Our Story
Our Founder: Robert Stamper
Robert Stamper has been a successful businessperson throughout his life, driven by faith, charisma, and passion in all his endeavors. Despite a thriving career in the secular world, Rob experienced a major health crisis in 2016 when he suffered a heart attack, leaving him in intensive care and unable to pursue his goals in the secular world. This event prompted him to seek out God's plans for his life. Rob became an ordained minister in 1998 and was consecrated in the Episcopacy and later as a Bishop in 2011. However, he felt there was still more to accomplish. After regaining his health, he and his spouse decided to become licensed foster parents, a decision that profoundly changed their lives. Their first placement, a young man named Sylas, had a lasting impact on Rob. Sylas was in their care for over three years before being reunited with his parents. Rob and his spouse often had more than five children placed in their home at a time and eventually adopted two children from foster care. Experiencing the pain, trauma, and challenging circumstances these children faced led to the founding of Sylas Place. Sylas Place is currently a safe haven for those less fortunate to receive an education and the skills they need to thrive. Looking ahead, Rob envisions purchasing a farm to create a home for foster children, providing them with a stable, nurturing environment where they can receive all necessary services and lead a more normal life while dealing with the trauma of foster care. This story is just beginning, with many more chapters to unfold. Stay tuned, as only God knows what the next adventure will be. We are a work in progress, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and families.
